The Perfect Style for Every Body
August 18th, 2010
No matter how strict a wedding diet you put yourself on, there are some things about your natural body shape that will never change. Your wedding dress is the most important article of clothing you will ever buy and you want it to be a dress that will fit you like a glove, not something that you try to contort your body to fit into. Different styles accentuate different parts of the body and it’s important to understand your body shape and find a dress that makes you look your best.If you have the classic hour glass shape with a thin waist and even width hips and shoulders, consider yourself lucky because most dress shapes will suit your body. Strapless, A-line, or mermaid dresses will probably highlight your figure best, but few styles are off limits. For those of us less perfectly proportioned, the task can be a bit more difficult. Pear-shaped brides, small waist with wider thighs and hips, should focus on accentuating the midsection and smoothing out hips and thighs. An A-line dress which tapers away from the body at the waist or an Empire-line that draws attention to your thin midsection are great dresses to try. Avoid clingy fabrics such as satin.Apple-shaped brides, with larger busts and midsections want to focus on elongating the body. A v-shaped neckline with an A-shaped body helps draw the eyes to all the right places and create a smooth, slender look.A bride with an athletic body can use various dress shapes to create the illusion of curves. Dresses that cinch at the waist and flow out will highlight your slim body and fill out your thin hips. If you have a small bust, a tight corset-style bodice can play up what you do have.A-line dresses and Empire waists are great styles for plus size brides. These designs help smooth out hips and thighs and can still show off a waist. You should also focus on sturdy fabrics that don’t cling or hug your fuller regions.
