It’s almost your wedding day which means one thing: The Honeymoon is almost here! Before you hit the slopes or the beach, here are a few things to remember to do before you leave home for an extended period of time:
Lock the house: Make sure your home is locked up tight so there will be no unwelcome surprises when you return home. Now’s a good time to consider a home security alarm (hint: Google something like home security clermont florida to find deals in your particular area) and be sure to tell your neighbors you’ll be gone for a while.
Get the gifts: Be sure to designate a friend or family member to bring home all the wedding gifts for the big day left they get left at the reception site when you’re done! If you’ve got a wedding planner, they should take care of it but assign the task or it won’t get done.
Take your Thank Yous: What better time to fill out those dreaded thank you notes than on a long flight on the way to your honeymoon destination? For airport only, thank you notes are a time killer and a welcome honeymoon activity that feels easy yet productive.

Finding your wedding dress can be a wonderful adventure and it is nice to include your mother and the mother of the groom if possible. Of course other close friends and relatives can also be invited, but remember if you have to many opinions, it can be difficult to make the final decision.

Plan the day so you have nothing else on the agenda to do. Lunch could be fun with you mom but you might be to excited to eat and then feel bloated afterwards.Didn’t catch that? This explains it. Dress comfortably and be prepared for a very special day. If you need to make an appointment with the bridal shop, make sure that is done well in advance.

The bridal shop will usually have the proper strapless bras and undergarments that you might want to use for the big day. You can bring pictures and ideas to show the consultant, but it is important to have an open mind. You never know what will look good on you. Let the consultant offer a few suggestions after she hears what you are looking for. If you buy you dress months in advance, remember it is important to have a fitting close to the wedding. Losing or gaining a few pounds could alter the whole dress. The final decision will up to you and don’t forget to bring your camera. It is the best time, so enjoy.

We have all dreamed of our wedding day and how we wil look as we make our way down the aisle. Stunning! The first step is to find the perfect gown that not only flatters your figure, but makes you feel like you are the belle of the ball.

Not all cuts of dresses will work on everyone, so try on every style to decide which works best for you. That A-line you saw in a magazine may not work best for your body type. While the ball gown cut, you never even had your eyes on, may accentuate your figure and make you feel like a model.

Your dress will set the tone of your day, so consider the setting of your wedding. If you are having a beach wedding, long sleeves and a 9 foot train will not work and you may be a bit uncomfortable wearing it. An elegant ballroom shouldn’t be the center of attention, so match it’s beauty with a gown that is equally stunning.

No matter what your style is, what people told you is true, when you find the perfect dress you will know. You will know by how you feel wearing it!

Smart savvy couples know that planning a posh wedding without breaking the bank can be a reality. Knowing where to find discounts, making concessions and getting creative are among the best ways to plan a stellar and memorable yet affordable event.

Today finding discounts is easier than ever. When seeking out vendors, items for purchase and contracting for services don’t be afraid to ask for a discount. The savings can be spectacular and will allow you to net top notch services and items you want for your big day at a fraction of the cost.

While nobody wants to talk about concessions, they are often a reality when planning a posh wedding on a budget. Planning your wedding for a Friday night or Sunday, or during the off season, are common ways to lower reception costs yet keep your event at a site of choice.

Creativity is the single best way to plan a posh wedding without breaking the bank. Spending time researching favors, accessories and more and then planning to make your own can often save hundreds if not thousands of dollars on wedding purchases.

Posh weddings are both memorable and stylish, yet need not be bank breaking experiences. With some careful planning, you too can have a lavish wedding celebration that will exceed expectation.

Weddings are a joyous time and bring happiness to the couple involved. Weddings can also cause the couple to go into debt. However, there are many ways that you could plan a wedding on a budget and guarantee that it will not break the bank.

The first thing you would want to do is find a location for the ceremony and reception. Holding both at the same place will help cut costs. Look for local banquet halls, or ask friends and family that have a beautifully landscaped yard if you could hold it there.

Next, is what many women feel is the most important part of the wedding, the dress. Look for bridal shop sales and give yourself a budget that you cannot go over. You will look beautiful no matter what you wear. Same goes for dressing the groom and bridal party. Look for deals and stick to your budget.

Decor is always an important part of the ceremony and reception. Stick with simple items, such as candles and tulle. A Justice of the Peace is normally more reasonably priced than a minister so consider having a JP perform your ceremony. Finally, keep the food to a minimum. People are there to celebrate the happy couple, not to eat. If you set a budget and vow to stick to it, you will have the wedding of the dreams and a full bank account.

With the upcoming wedding of Prince William and Kate Middleton in April of this year, now might be a good time to get close to a piece of British wedding history without having to travel across the pond to be a part of it.If you want to get close and personal to royalty you might want to make plans to see Princess Diana’s wedding dress as it visits the Grand Rapids Art Museum in Michigan and then moves on to Kansas City, Missouri’s Union Square on March 4th.In addition to the iconic wedding dress of Princess Diana there will be at least 150 personal items related to the Princess on display including dresses that span the 16 years that she was in the spotlight which will include dresses worn during the Royal tours of Canada and New Zealand in the early 1980s, evening dresses by couturier Catherine Walker from around 1990, and little black cocktail dresses by designers like Versace (one of her favorite designers) from the mid-1990s.The wedding dress worn by Princess Diana was designed by Elizabeth and David Emanuel and includes a 25-foot train. The designer of Kate Middleton’s dress is still being kept under wraps, but it has been hinted that Bruce Oldfield has been selected even though Harold Tillmon, head of the British Fashion Council , urged her to give an “unknown” British designer an opportunity to show their talent by being selected.Only time will reveal what dress might next be on display.

With all the buzz coming out of Great Britain lately regarding the impending wedding of Prince William and Kate Middleton you can bet there’s also been a lot of focus on trying to determine who the designer of Ms. Middleton’s dress might be. With that we turned to our friends at Marie Claire magazine who recently listed their perspective of the top ten wedding dress designers:

Alberta Ferretti was named for designs that scream “understated glamour.”Sassi Holford was named for designs that combine classical lines with a desirable contemporary edge.Manuel Mota designs combine romance and modern flair in one seamless look.Ana Cristache produces custom designs that work equally well for classic weddings or those with a more urban flair.David Fielden is known for his shorter dresses and asymmetrical looks something that works well on many body types.Vivienne Westwood is known to many a modern bride for her Carrie Bradshaw connection (the Lily wedding gown which retails for over 9,000).Vera Wang is considered the “ultimate” in bridal wear with the list of dressed brides too lengthy to mention here.Carolyn Herrera is best known for the classic full-skirted princess gown that will make any woman feel like the classiest one to ever walk down an aisle.

The jury is still out as lovely Kate decides which dress to wear. But you know we’ll have the latest news in upcoming posts. Stay tuned.

Following are the more commonly asked questions (and answers) concerning wedding dress preservation for all those romantics out there who want to pass the gown on to their daughters! Why is the museum method of gown preservation preferred over the boxed method? Because the museum method will keep your gown hanging it keeps your dress in the best overall condition and requires less maintenance than boxed methods. However, closet space can sometimes come at a premium so if this is an issue for you, then the boxed method is probably preferred for that reason alone.I have a strapless dress how can that be hung in the Museum Method? Typically cotton twill straps are sewn into the lining of the dress to support the gown. These same straps are also used for “spaghetti style” straps which may become stretched or town if used to hang the gown over long periods. If I let a friend borrow my gown will I need to get it “re-preserved” before putting it back away? Your gown can definitely be worn once it’s been preserved, but it will also need to be re-cleaned and re-preserved after the re-wearing.Since my gown will be preserved, is it safe to store it in the garage? No, your gown should be stored where the temperatures remain as constant as possible and since garages are often subject to excessive heat and cold you gown should be moved indoors.
